Alternative to toxic chemicals
Keep dogs and cats happy and healthy.
Protect pets from fleas.
Diatomaceous earth is an environmentally friendly alternative to toxic commercial flea and tick treatments.
Diatomaceous earth is a fine powder composed of the crushed fossilized exoskeletons of microscopic diatoms.
This is a remarkable substance that is a desiccant--it actually dries out the waxy outer layer of fleas, causing them death by dehydration.
In tests performed by the USDA, as well as a number of consumer trials, diatomaceous earth has proven to be an effective
non-chemical insect control.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is not earth or dirt. It is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one-celled aquatic plants (diatoms).
Over the eons, as these diatoms fossilized, they retained their tubular shape and holes. Their shape and hardness produce extremely pure and consistent DE.
There are different grades of DE in the marketplace. Of the 600 deposits in the U.S., only four are considered Food-Grade by the FDA.
Lumino DE is almost pure white and cosists of 89-94% silicon dioxide plus 28 trace minerals.
There are also two basic original sources: fresh water and salt water. Our fresh water deposit began eons ago as pure snow. The snow's run off provided the water source the diatoms lived in. Diatoms in fresh water form a harder shell than those in salt water.
The silica in Lumino DE is amorphous. This is silica in its naturally occurring state. It is a trace mineral every mammal on the planet needs for survival.
The silica in DE becomes crystalline when it is exposed to extreme heat through volcanic activity or commercial manufacturing.
How Does DE Work?
DE works with a physical or mechanical action, not a chemical one. Because of this, there is no danger of a reaction with other products or concerns about overdosing. Pests and parasites cannot build an immunity to it.
Seen through an electron microscope, individual DE cells look like old fashion hair curlers, basically a cylinder covered with multiple pointy sharp edges. These points give DE its strong yet gentle abrasive quality. The surface area of the cylinder creates the ability to be a super dessicant.
If DE is such a strong abrasive, why doesn't it hurt pets and people? The answer involves size, skin, and bood vessels. DE points are too small to pierce the skin of pets and people. Healthy humans or pets should have no problems or reactions. All of our DE products (including pet versions) are tested on people. Individuals with severe respiratory difficulties should be careful when dusting with fine powders such as DE, and wear a mask or respirator.
Insecticide / Pesticide Use
When applying DE to your pet, as in many things, less is more.
Put a small amount in your palm, rub your hands together, start at the head, avoiding the eyes and nose. Next apply behind the ears, paying extra attention to floppy ears.
Now apply to your pet's neck and chin. Go down their back, including the tail -- being especially mindful of the area where the tail connects. Rub it onto haunches and legs, and finally apply to their belly. Massage it all the way through the coat, as close to their skin as possible.
To eliminate pests, they must come in contact with DE. Generally it takes 72 hours for complete dehydration to occur.
We recommend applying DE every seven to ten days for a month to eliminate all fleas. DE can't pierce a flea egg sac, so you need to reapply to catch any new hatchlings.
For successful flea and tick eradication it is important to treat everything at the same time -- the pets, their bedding, as well as indoor and outdoor living environments.
Cleaner More Beautiful Homes
A natural deodorizer for garbage cans, kitty litter boxes, vacuum cleaner bags, refrigerator, and foootwear.
A non-toxic cleanser and absorbent. Use as a soft-scrub cleanser by mixing with dish soap to make a paste.
Silver Polish - mix DE with water to form a paste. Apply to silver, rubbing with cloth, and wash well. Silver tarnish can also be removed by rubbing with dry DE.
Supporting the Immune System for Pets and Humans
It has been reported in scientific literature that DE absorbs and eliminates methyl mercury, E. Coli, endotoxins, viruses, pesticide residues, drug residues, and some intestinal infections.
Silica is necessary for the formation of collagen for bones and connective tissue.
Stimulates cell metabolism and cell formation.
Inhibits the aging process in tissues.
Strengthens elasticity and firmness of the blood vessels and increases the elasticity of lung tissue.
Excellent for repairing damaged and thinning nails, hair, eyelashes, and skin.
Reduces pain from sore joints.
DE is used internally for two reasons: first for immune system support, and secondly as a dewormer.
DE should eliminate most worms within one week to 10 days when being fed daily. It doesn't affect eggs, so you must feed for an additional 30 to 60 days to destroy newly hatched parasites.
DE is neutral tasting. Mix with wet food or water once a day. For puppies and kittens, add to milk.
kittens: 1/2 teaspoon
Cats and Puppies: 1/2 - 1 teaspoon
Dogs under 35 lbs: 1 teaspoon
Dogs 35 - 50 lbs: 2 teaspoons
Dogs over 50 lbs: 1 tablespoon
Dogs over 100 lbs: 2 tablespoons
Poultry: Mix with feed at a 2% concentration
Human: Start with 1 teaspoon. If desired, increase slowly to 1 tablespoon.
It is safe to increase dosage when deworming, and try not to miss days.
